The Heat of a Direct Vent Gas Fireplace

"Use this direct vent gas fireplace for quick warmth!"

Is it true that the direct vent gas fireplace is more efficient than other types? Well, it is true in a sense. Although I wouldn’t say it’s the most energy efficient (as you just can’t beat electric), it is the most environmentally friendly compared to other natural gas and wood burning types. If you’re not familiar with these great devices, they’re basically special vented fireplaces with extreme BTU (British thermal units) power. They can quickly and easily heat an entire home. Yes, you heard that right. You don’t want one of these if your plan is to cozy up by the fire. You’ll get burned if you try that. This can be a problem for people who aren’t aware of this – they think they need a very big one, but that’s simply not the case. Be very careful that you get on that is the right size for your home.

You’ll want to be very careful about these things, too. You don’t want to put anything that could get damaged by the heat anywhere near. Also, some people have reported that an item would occasionally fall into the firebox. If that is the case, it’s gone forever. However, if you let anything get too close it will very likely burn up as well. You have been warned.

Several manufacturers make these, such as Majestic, Napoleon, Superior, and Heatilator. They all make different styles, so it’s basically just a preference thing. Also, you might as well get whichever type is most readily available. It’s also nice to know that you won’t have spend very much money because you’ll be able to get a much smaller one than normal and still have a very nice effect.

They are just like other models of fireplaces in the sense that they make inserts for them, they can come with a nice blower, and they look just as great in the corner. Installation isn’t that much of a problem either, so if prices are too high for you think about doing it yourself. They can be natural gas obviously, but they can also run off propane.
